PCOS Education and Support Group

Dear Friends,

We have been talking about starting a PCOS support group for a long time! It has been a dream of mine to bring all of you wonderful women together on a regular basis to educate and support one another. I also plan to invite professionals to speak to the group and offer information in their area of expertise (i.e. dietician, counselor, Reproductive Endocrinologist, Dermatologist, etc.), as it pertains to PCOS. We can spend some of the sessions just sharing information and resources (the do's and don'ts you've all learned along the way, etc.). Maybe organize groups of women who are interested in exercising together, doing meal exchanges, etc. There are so many possibilities for this group!

There are hundreds of women in Southern Utah who have expressed an interest in a support group. Unfortunately, I only have a fraction of the email addresses I need. Please spread the word to your family and friends with PCOS. They do NOT have to be patient's in our clinic to come to the support group, everyone is welcome!

We will start out meeting at my office (Dr. Lunt and Kvarfordt have graciously offered it for our use) in January 2012. We may need to find a larger venue as we grow. The meeting dates will be held posted on the PCOS blog (stgpcos.blogspot.com). The time is from 6:00-7:00 p.m.

In order for the support group to be a success I am going to need your help. I suggest we nominate a leadership committee to help organize and promote meetings and mentor people who are new to the group. We will have a suggested donation of $3 per person/meeting to help with expenses associated with the support group (postage, refreshments, etc.). The group is not intended to address the medical issues of an individual or replace visits with your health care provider. It is a forum for support and education. I am so excited to see you in January! Please come and take an active role in the PCOS support group! Please RSVP for the meeting(s) so I will have an idea of how many people to expect.

Sincerely,

  1. I recommend we nominate a authority panel to help arrange and enhance conferences and tutor individuals who are new to the team.
